Error codes

Error identification, to identify error codes, you can refer to:

  • Dashboard display
For E-step with dashboard, the error code and a warning icon will appear on the dashboard.
  • Sound alert
In some case a sound alert (beep) will also be heared, A long “beep” represents “10”, and a short “beep” represents “1”. Add them together to determine the error code. For example, the vehicle will emit one long beep and five short beeps to indicate an error code of 15.

Troubleshooting
If an error code appears, you can refer to the following resources for troubleshooting assistance:

  • Product manuals.

When the vehicle is powered on, the dashboard shows “!”,emits one long beep. The error message contains “Code 10”.

Problem Analysis
Controller Communication Error.

Solution
1. With the E-step powered on, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds; the unit will shut down first, then give a single “beep” at the 15-second mark. Release the button immediately after the beep, power the scooter back on, and check whether error code 10 has cleared.

2. Using the supplied 4 mm hex key, remove the handlebar and verify that its harness is fully seated and all pins are straight. Straighten any bent pins with tweezers or replace the harness if necessary.

3. With the 3 mm hex key, remove the bottom-cover plate. One by one, disconnect every controller connector except the main harness, then restart the E-step and observe whether Error Code 10 disappears (ignore any new codes that appear because of the disconnected plugs).

– If code 10 clears, the fault lies in one of the disconnected circuits—inspect those components. Focus on inspecting the taillight wiring harness.
– If code 10 remains, replace the dashboard assembly.

E-scooter noise

When the E-scooter makes strange & unusual noises, this can have various causes, including:

  • Squeaking brakes => replace the brake pads / discs
  • Grinding sound from the wheels => sand may have gotten into the bearings; this will subside after a certain time. If it persists, consult an authorized dealer.
  • Beeping sound from the display / controller => this could be an error message; consult the error messages listed above.
  • “Rubbing noise” => you may have fallen or been in a collision; this can cause parts to be bent and rubbing. Check the rotating parts and identify where the sound is coming from; furthermore, consult an authorized dealer for further advice.
  • Any other noises that were not previously present; visit an authorized dealer so they can find and remedy the cause.

Motor and Tires

The 7even E-scooters use E-mark certified parts. PLEASE NOTE: these are NOT standard parts; therefore, replace the parts only with original parts available from authorized dealers.

The tire pressure can be found on the outer tire. Ensure that you do not ride on tires that are too soft to prevent wear.

The motor is a powerful 500-watt motor with a dual sensor. For correct operation, it is important that the motor is inspected and, if necessary, replaced only by an authorized dealer. Failure to follow this guideline may result in the two sensors not being aligned, causing an error message.

Throttle and Brake

The 7even E-scooters are equipped with a (thumb-push) throttle for accelerating the E-scooter. The operation is that when the E-scooter is switched on and the foot is placed on the E-scooter, and a firm “kick” is needed to set the E-scooter in motion, the throttle must be pressed down simultaneously; this accelerates the E-scooter. Dosing the throttle is simple: when the throttle is pressed down slowly, the E-scooter will accelerate slowly; when the throttle is pressed firmly and quickly, the E-scooter will accelerate faster. If the speed needs to be reduced, the throttle must be released slightly, causing the acceleration to decrease and gradually come to a stop. The 7even E-scooters are equipped with a 3-brake system:

  • Front disc brake, operated with the left brake lever
  • Rear disc brake, operated with the right brake lever
  • E-brake, activated when one of the two brakes is engaged; the E-brake acts as a motor brake. When the brake lever(s) are squeezed, the motor will also brake immediately.

Check before every ride whether the brakes are still working properly by squeezing them firmly one by one. If the brakes no longer function as before, we strongly advise replacing the brake pads; you can do this yourself or have it done by a local dealer.

Riding Experience

The riding experience of a legal e-scooter is different for everyone, but always be mindful of others and the traffic around you. Follow the advice of local authorities to ride within the law; in most cases, this will mean using bicycle paths.

Lighting

The 7even e-scooter is equipped with the following lighting:

  • Front LED lighting: this lights up automatically when the e-scooter is switched on and therefore cannot be switched off.
  • Rear LED lighting: this lights up automatically when the e-scooter is switched on and therefore cannot be switched off.
  • Rear LED brake light: if the brakes are applied, the red rear light will illuminate brightly, allowing oncoming traffic to see that you are braking and slowing down.
  • Rear LED license plate lighting: this ensures that your license plate is clearly legible in the dark.
  • Turn signals: the 7even e-scooter is equipped with front and rear turn signals. You operate the turn signals easily using the switch on the left side of the handlebars. If you are turning left, switch on the left turn signals so that passers-by and oncoming traffic can see what you are doing; the same applies to turning right.

Installation and Use

When you purchase your 7even E-scooter from an authorized dealer, it will be made ready for use immediately, the license plate mounted, and the registration papers already in your name. Your dealer will also inform you about the MANDATORY insurance!

We advise you to read the included manual carefully before use and to follow your dealer’s tips. SAFETY FIRST!

Maintenance and Basic Care

You should check the following regularly to ensure every ride is a safe ride:

  • Before riding, check the brakes by squeezing them firmly. If the E-scooter does not stop immediately, you must replace the brake pads as soon as possible.
  • If the E-scooter is wet/damp, dry it with a cloth. This prevents moisture from seeping into the parts and causing potential problems.
  • After a long ride, the motor (& battery) may have become warm. Allow it to cool down before charging the E-scooter. We recommend making as many “long charges” as possible and no “short ones”. Battery life is measured in charging cycles and not in time; every charge shortens the lifespan, making unnecessary charges not recommended.
  • Check your tire pressure regularly; if you can (easily) push the tires in with your fingers, the pressure is too low and you should inflate them to the pressure noted on the tire.
  • If you store your e-scooter folded, you must check the locking mechanism of the folding system before every ride. When you fold the handlebars back up, you must lock the clasp until you hear a “click”.

For maintenance, we offer the following advice:

  • Visit your authorized dealer at least once a year for a service; this prevents problems in the long term. – Check tire pressure and tread weekly (with regular use)
  • Check the brakes before every use
  • Check the display functions every month
  • Check the operation of the turn signals and LED lighting on every trip
  • Keep the anti-slip deck clean of mud and ensure it is dry; the anti-slip only works when clean and when mud does not cover the uneven surfaces
  • Check for loose or misaligned parts; this can affect safety
  • Register for our newsletter so that we can keep you informed of developments and announcements

Other

The 7even LEGAL E-scooter can only be ridden LEGALLY when:

  • Equipped with a valid license plate; your authorized dealer ensures that the license plate is in your name
  • Equipped with E-scooter insurance; see “INSURANCE” on our website
  • Minimum age is 16 years

There is NO helmet requirement for a LEGAL E-scooter!

At all times, you must follow the traffic guidelines of the local government!
